Monash Council has endorsed a revised Public Art Policy and Framework for community and stakeholder consultation, highlighting creative works and the contribution they make to Monash.
The policy and framework will establish a clear process for the commissioning and management of public art activity, ensuring Council's public art program is focused towards achieving the livability, inclusion and cultural development goals outlined in Council's plans and strategies.
It will be supported by a curatorial framework which will be further developed from key themes identified through community and stakeholder consultation and community sentiment about public art in Monash.
Monash Mayor, Cr Tina Samardzija said the Public Art Policy and Framework supports Council's vision to be a city that celebrates and champions creative industries.
"This revised Public Art Policy and Framework delivers on Council's vision for arts, culture and heritage that inspires, enriches, and connects our community by embracing what makes us truly unique," said Cr Samardzija.
"A strong and thriving public art program is an important deliverable of our Monash Arts and Culture Strategy 2025, to drive our vision to reignite our resilient and thriving creative sector."

City of Monash residents can view the Monash public art collection and have their say on Council's draft Public Art Policy and Framework at Shape Monash until 19 April 2023.
