The CommBank Socceroos will finalise their preparations for the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ with two matches in the Middle East during the November FIFA Men's International Window.
Australia will first take on two-time AFC Asian Cup™ champions Qatar in Doha on November 13 (local time, November 14 AEDT), before facing 2023 AFC Asian Cup™ runners-up Jordan in Amman on November 17 (local time, November 18 AEDT).
The two fixtures represent the CommBank Socceroos' final matches before the official AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ camp begins and provide valuable preparation ahead of the tournament, which gets underway in January.
The meeting with Qatar will be the first between the nations in 12 years. Although the teams have played five times previously, they have not met since October 2014, when Qatar recorded a 1-0 victory in Doha.
Australia has faced Jordan on eight occasions, winning five matches to Jordan's three. Their most recent encounter was a friendly in Doha in June 2022, with the CommBank Socceroos securing a 2-1 victory.
The CommBank Socceroos have been drawn into AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ Group D alongside Singapore, Iraq and Tajikistan, with Australia's opening match against Singapore on January 9.
Qatar has been drawn into Group F alongside Japan, Indonesia and Thailand. Jordan has been drawn into Group B alongside Bahrain, Uzbekistan and DPR Korea.
Quotes attributable to CommBank Socceroos Head Coach Tony Popovic:
"November is our last FIFA international window before the AFC Asian Cup 2027™, and with such a short timeframe between the FIFA World Cup 2026™ and the next major tournament, every camp, every game, and every day together is crucial.
"Qatar and Jordan both qualified for the most recent FIFA World Cup™. Qatar are the winners of the past two AFC Asian Cups, while Jordan were runners-up in the AFC Asian Cup 2023™, so we know they will both be tough opponents.
"We also look forward to playing Qatar and Jordan in the Middle East, as it gives us two more competitive fixtures in the lead-up to the AFC Asian Cup 2027™ and serves as part of our final preparation for the tournament."
Quotes attributable to Football Australia's Executive Director of Football, Heather Garriock:

"November will be a vital window for Socceroos Head Coach Tony Popovic and his staff, with such a short window to prepare for the AFC Asian Cup 2027™, which starts in January."
