MonsterVerse franchise returns to Queensland

The highly anticipated Godzilla vs Kong sequel is the latest international blockbuster to be drawn to film in Australia, with the production set to receive $16 million in funding under the Australian Government's highly successful $540 million Location Incentive.

The fifth film the MonsterVerse franchise will see Kong defend the Earth from the unusual and dangerous creatures that threaten his new home.

The production, set to begin in July 2022, will employ more than 500 Australian cast and crew and more than 700 Australian extras, and is expected to inject more than $119 million into the Australian economy.

The announcement marks the return of the MonsterVerse franchise to South East Queensland, with 2021's Godzilla vs. Kong also filmed in the region with support from the Location Incentive.

To date, the Australian Government has distributed more than $289 million under the Location Incentive, attracting 29 international productions to Australia.

This will generate more than $2.2 billion in private investment, providing more than 18,300 employment opportunities for local cast and crew, and creating work for over 17,400 businesses that support these big productions.
