Moo Baa Munch Returns To Inspire Students With Hands-on Agriculture

Hundreds of students will swap the classroom for the paddock when Moo Baa Munch returns to Toowoomba on 28 and 29 October.

Hosted at Downlands College Rural Centre, the free two-day event connects school students with the people, animals, and industries behind Australia's food and fibre.

The first day will welcome primary school students, who will roll up their sleeves and take part in fun, interactive demonstrations that show how food and fibre are produced and why farming is so vital to everyday life. On the second day, the spotlight turns to secondary students, with activities designed to highlight the diversity of careers in agriculture. Whether in the lab, on the land, in an office, or working with the latest technology, students will discover that agriculture offers pathways to suit every interest and skillset.

AgForce Queensland General Manager of Media and Community Engagement, Tanya Nagle, said Moo Baa Munch has earned its place as one of Toowoomba's signature community events.

"Agriculture underpins our daily lives, yet many young Australians don't have the chance to see what goes into producing their food and fibre," Ms Nagle said. "Moo Baa Munch gives them that opportunity, while also showing them that a career in agriculture can mean working with animals, science, business, or technology-there really is something for everyone."

Moo Baa Munch was recognised as Community Event of the Year at the 2025 Toowoomba Australia Day Awards, a reflection of its strong partnerships with schools, industry, and the broader community. The event is delivered through AgForce's School to Industry Partnership Program (SIPP), in collaboration with the Queensland Government and with the generous support of industry volunteers who bring agriculture to life for students.
