More Disruption Coming To Bay Road And Graham Road

Drivers should plan ahead, with major works at the Bay Road and Graham Road intersection in Highett creating more traffic changes from Wednesday 15 July.

These works include new traffic lights and road reconstruction required as part of the Highett Common development. They are being delivered by developer Sunkin through contractor Ace Infrastructure and have been approved by the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP).

While these are not Council works, we're working closely with the developer, contractor and DTP to help minimise disruption and keep our community informed.

Traffic changes from Wednesday 15 July

  • Bay Road will operate as a single westbound lane between Graham Road and Reserve Road.
  • Graham Road will remain closed at the intersection.
  • Chandos Street will be closed at Bay Road.
  • Some parking changes will be in place on Arnold Street.
  • A pedestrian connection between Graham Road and Bay Road will reopen when works commence.

What to expect

  • Delays are expected, particularly during peak periods.
  • Bus routes 822 and 828 will be affected by temporary stop closures and diversions.
  • Construction noise, dust and changes to local access are expected during the works.
  • Local businesses, including The Flour House, are continuing to trade throughout works.
