More Howlett Legal Fees for Tasmanians?

Tas Labor

Labor is calling on the Liberals to reveal whether Tasmanian taxpayers are footing the bill for any additional legal fees associated with the conduct of former Minister Jane Howlett.

Tasmanians won't forget they are already picking up the tab for an eye-watering $405,000 worth of legal fees to cover both sides of a secret legal dispute between Jane Howlett and the Integrity Commission.

On Friday , the Liberals' integrity crisis deepened, with explosive accusations given under oath about the misuse of government staff and resources including for a candidate not a sitting Member of Parliament, in the lead up and during the 2024 election campaign.

The evidence given at the Committee confirmed Ms Howlett has been involved in a legal dispute with the witness at the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

After the secret legal fee saga, Ms Howlett and the Liberals have lost the benefit of the doubt on these matters.

Tasmanians have a right to know whether they have been forced to shell out for any more legal costs to defend the former Minister, and if so, how many thousands of dollars the bill is this time.
