The Albanese Government is delivering critical road upgrades for communities in Western Australia under the Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program (SLRIP).
More than $14.7 million will help fund four new projects, which will mean safer and more resilient roads for communities across the state.
The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley will receive close to $4 million towards the Mulligans Lagoon Road and Weaber Plain Road Intersection project, to accommodate heavy vehicle traffic.
More than $3.9 million has been allocated to the Shire of Esperance to upgrade Merivale Road, from the Jims Oven Road intersection to the Rancho X intersection.
The City of Wanneroo will receive over $3.7 million for the Neaves Road upgrade in Mariginiup, which will widen 5.2 kilometres of Neaves Road from Old Yanchep Road to Meadowlands Drive.
Finally, the Shire of Dandaragan has been allocated more than $3.1 million towards the Winjardie Road Reconstruction project, which will continue upgrades to the existing sealed road.
This is part of a more than $86.2 million nationwide commitment under the latest tranche of the program.
Of this, more than $77.6 million is earmarked for projects in regional Australia.
The SLRIP was created by the Albanese Labor Government to ease the administrative burden on local councils as well as state and territory governments.
Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories Kristy McBain said the funding would help make roads safer.
"Projects from East Kimberley to Esperance will get funding under this program to help make their roads safer.
"We understand that regional councils often need extra financial support to help with meeting increasing costs and continual pressure on transport infrastructure due to climate change and extreme weather.
"That's why the Albanese Government is delivering the funding local governments need to ensure our roads are safer."
With more than $200 million available each year, the program is part of the Australian Government's commitment to strengthen investment and support the delivery of safer and more productive roads across Australia.
