More Liberal Lies On Energy

VIC Premier

Peter Dutton has lied to Victorians. His claim that the Allan Labor Government has extended the life of coal power plants in Victoria is wrong.

The Allan Labor Government has been clear - we have not extended the life of any of Victoria's coal fire power plants.

We have agreed closure dates with EnergyAustralia and AGL. Yallourn will close in 2028 and Loy Yang A in 2035. Nothing about these agreements have changed.

These agreements provide certainty to towns in the Latrobe Valley about their employment and livelihoods and gives the renewable energy industry the certainty they needs to build the replacement capacity required to keep the lights on and power bills down.

Peter Dutton should show the workers and families in the Latrobe Valley some respect - instead of selling lies about false coal power closure extensions that puts the future of these towns in limbo.

These lies are a ploy in Peter Dutton's nuclear fantasy - he knows he can't build it in time, it costs too much and it will send bills skyrocketing.

You can't trust the Liberals with energy - Brad Battin is hiding his plans for nuclear until 4 May.

Brad Battin claims to be removing prohibitions on gas exploration in Victoria which don't exist - which can only mean he wants to frack.

Brad Battin needs to take a stand against his Commonwealth counterparts or explain to Victorians why he backs Peter Dutton's pipe dream that will send power bills skyrocketing.

Our position is clear, we will not allow a toxic nuclear power plant in our state, or toxic fracking in our farmlands.
