More Playgrounds On Way For Families To Play

Mayors Message More playgrounds on the way for families to play

As Mayor, one of my top priorities is making sure local families have every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, stay active, and build healthy habits together. That's why Council is investing in new, high-quality play spaces across Fairfield City.

I'm pleased to announce a $1.5 million investment in two exciting new playgrounds at Nelson Park in Fairfield and Prout Park in Mt Pritchard. These vibrant community spaces will feature flying foxes, fitness hubs, shaded picnic areas, toddler zones, bike tracks, and much more, offering imaginative and adventurous play for years to come. These projects are jointly funded by Council and the NSW Government, with completion expected later in the year.

Looking ahead, we'll turn our attention to a new destination playground at Brenan Park, Smithfield set to begin construction later this year. The all-abilities playground will boast a towering centrepiece climbing structure, water play features, trampolines, a flying fox, and specialised equipment designed so that every child can participate and enjoy the space. This $6 million investment is proudly funded by NSW Government Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants program.

But it's not just about the big parks, we know how important your local playground is for a quick visit or a weekday outing close to home. That's why we've been busy upgrading smaller neighbourhood playgrounds across our City too.

In the past 12 months alone, we've upgraded Rosford Park, Smithfield; Cawarra Park, Fairfield; Macarthur Park, Fairfield East, Busby Park, Edensor Park; Adams Park, Canley Vale; the small playground at Fairfield Adventure Park; Shakespeare Park, Wetherill Park; Stella Park, Fairfield Heights; Fiona Park, Mt Pritchard and Bowden Park, Cabramatta.

If your local playground hasn't been upgraded yet, please know that we are steadily working through a long-term plan to refresh parks across the entire City, because every family deserves safe, fun, and accessible places to play and connect.

These projects are an investment in our future and in the wellbeing of the next generation. I look forward to seeing you and your family out enjoying these fantastic new spaces soon.
