Record $654 million investment in Northern Territory Police Force.
More boots on the ground, including 150+ new police, a Police Public Safety Officer workforce, and continued recruitment growth.
Better resources and infrastructure, with $176 million for police housing and stations.
The Finocchiaro CLP Government is backing frontline policing with a record $654 million for Northern Territory Police in the 2026-27 Budget, an increase of $46 million on last year.
This record investment will put more police on the beat, strengthen support for officers, boost community safety programs and deliver critical infrastructure upgrades across the Territory.
Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro said reducing crime across the Territory starts with backing police.
"More than 180 police officers graduated from the Police College last year, and we want to keep that momentum going," Mrs Finocchiaro said.
"In our year of growth, certainty and security, we are seeing the biggest policing reform come to life, with the first new Police Public Safety Officers graduating next month and hitting the streets.
"Territorians want to see police out in our communities, visible, proactive and preventing crime before it happens.
"That is exactly what this Budget delivers: more cops, better resources and stronger support for the men and women in blue who keep us safe."
The 2026-27 Budget delivers:
$48 million over four years to build a 212-member Police Public Safety Officer workforce, with $15.8 million ongoing each year to keep more officers on the streets long term.A target of more than 150 new police constables this year.$176 million will be invested in police facilities and housing repairs and upgrades, including funding in 2026-27 for 41 new police homes and six new police stations to modernise and replace ageing infrastructure.$5 million for police domestic, family and sexual violence co-responder early intervention programs.$3.5 million for school-based policing initiatives.$2.5 million to expand police's electronic monitoring capacity.$1 million in additional wellbeing support for NT Police Force and Northern Territory Fire and Emergency Service staff.
"Our police work hard every day, often in tough situations, and they deserve to know we've got their backs," she said.
