More S Than You Could Patch Pothole With

Liberal Party Victoria

Today's roads' announcement from the government had a familiar feel to it.

That's because Labor simply rehashed a media release from 2025, that was rehashed from 2024, that year-on-year has been rehashed since 2019.

And again today, the government's media release was filled with empty promises, just as it has been over the past seven years.

"Every year we get an announcement from Labor that they're doing a lot of work to fix our roads, but Victorians know every year our roads are getting worse. Today's announcement is no different. It's designed to fool Victorians into thinking the government is doing something," Leader of The Nationals, and Shadow Minister for Roads and Roads Safety, Danny O'Brien said.

"On the eve of an election Labor again says they're going to fix our roads when the media releases of the last decade haven't delivered - indeed our roads are still getting worse.

"Our roads are goat tracks, and we've got a government that's throwing shekels at them and expecting Victorians to believe they're all going be fixed."

The hundreds of thousands of potholes across Victoria are not only a safety hazard but are putting lives at risk, while Labor continues to avoid accountability.

"The Premier has again spoken about the weather as the reason the roads are in such poor condition. Is this a joke? This government has been in power for 12 years now and the roads have gotten worse every year," Mr O'Brien said.

The Nationals and Liberals' plan is for a better and safer road network throughout Victoria. Our plan will include greater preventative maintenance of our roads to reduce long-term maintenance costs.
