More School Buses For Melbourne's Western Suburbs

VIC Premier

The Allan Labor Government is helping more students get to school, delivering more school bus services across Melbourne's growing booming western suburbs next year.

Minister for Public and Active Transport Gabrielle Williams today announced 10 new school bus services across five routes in Melbourne's west which will kickstart from Term 1.

Two new school bus services to the new Kolorer College in Cobblebank will give students living in Strathtulloh and Thornhill Park easier access to their school.

An extra morning and afternoon trip will also be added for students in Thornhill Park travelling to Yarrabing Secondary College, providing more options to get to school and back.

School bus services to Brookside P-9 College and Lakeview Senior College will also be improved with an extra morning and afternoon trip added to the Grandview, Olivia and Mt Atkinson estates.

School bus services for the new Yurran P-9 College will be improved, with new school service to be introduced from Werribee South.

From next year, students under 18 will be able to travel to school for free on these routes using their Youth myki, helping ease cost-of-living pressures for families.

A yearly student pass currently costs $755, but from next year children aged under 18 can travel for free and for a family with three eligible children, that's a saving of $2,265 a year.

Full details of route and timetable changes will be available from schools prior to the start of term.

These latest improvements are part of a $25 million investment in the Victorian Budget 2022/23 to introduce, modify and extend school bus services across the state, with a focus on new schools in growth areas, delivering better services for thousands of Victorian students.
