From pint-sized changemakers to tree-planting, community art to quiet heroism – Peninsula Tales has been capturing the stories that remind us what makes the Mornington Peninsula so special.

Over the past few months, we've seen local people doing extraordinary things. Whether it's greening our streets, supporting families, or simply showing up for each other, these are the moments that deserve the spotlight.

Here's a look at what's made us smile lately:
We grew greener

More than 2,000 new trees have taken root across our streets and reserves. It's all part of our bold plan to grow a cooler, greener Peninsula.

We celebrated local legends

Mechelle's incredible environmental work in Rye earned her a Local Hero Award, showing what's possible when passion meets persistence.

We watched young people shine

The Youth Recognition Awards put the spotlight firmly on local teens doing amazing things – and this year, they even ran the event themselves.

We stepped back in time

Our Stories: Unearthed brought history to life at Mount Martha House, with art, music, workshops and hidden treasures galore.

We turned pages and heads

From roaring toddlers to sensitive sessions, Storytime has been full of joy – thanks to the unforgettable Brad and his boundless imagination.

We saw art in everyday places

Yawa's foyer became a gallery, with local photographer Yanni Dellaportas showcasing the beauty of the Peninsula in every shot.

We backed our volunteers

During National Volunteer Week, we said a big thank you to the people who give their time, heart and energy – just because they care.

We kept raising our village

From lactation help to playgroups, our Maternal and Child Health team continued supporting local families through every up and down.

We played a little differently

What started as a pétanque club on borrowed ground is now a state-leading facility – with new shelters, gazebos and plenty of community spirit.
