The Cook Labor Government's Made in WA plan will receive a $5 million boost with the latest round of grants available via the Local Capability Fund (LCF) to benefit small businesses throughout the State.
The fund, which supports local businesses to access and compete for major government and private sector contracts, will this year be split into five targeted funding rounds:
- Supplying Key Projects: increasing the capability and capacity of WA Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), State-wide, to supply products, services and works to key government and private sector projects;
- Aboriginal Business: supporting Aboriginal businesses across Western Australia that are seeking to better prepare to supply products, services and works to local, State, and Australian governments, as well as the private sector;
- National and International Standards: assisting WA SMEs with the costs of using external expertise to implement and obtain third-party certification for national and international standards;
- Regional Suppliers: supporting regional businesses as suppliers to major projects and markets; and
- Digital Transformation: assisting WA SMEs in their adoption of digital technology to improve outcomes such as productivity, efficiency, competitiveness, resilience, and safety.
Since its launch, the LCF has awarded more than $30 million to more than 870 businesses -including more than 450 regional businesses across a range of industries - generated more than $1.5 billion in contracts awarded, and created more than 2,800 jobs and more than 350 apprenticeships.

As stated by Premier Roger Cook:
"I want Western Australia to be the best place in the world to do business.
"To do that, my government is supporting businesses to not only get involved with local contracts but remain competitive in export markets.
"Through the Local Capability Fund, we are ensuring small businesses are equipped with the skills they need to get the most out of my government's Made in WA plan and be prepared for the future."
