The State Government has earmarked almost $2.25 million to extend the Women in Business Foundations Program (external site) for another four years, providing supporting to a further 1600 South Australian women.
Delivered by Adelaide Business Hub, the program provides tailored mentoring and advisory support for women developing a business idea or wanting to grow or strengthen an existing business.
Over the next four years, 1200 women already running a business will have access to 7200 hours of individual mentoring, covering areas including business planning, finance, marketing, operations, workforce development and growth.
A further 400 women preparing to start a business will be supported through Launch Your Own Business workshops.
This builds on the more than 2000 women across metropolitan, regional and rural South Australian, who have taken part in the Women in Business Foundation's Program's first two rounds.
The initiative provides practical support for women navigating some of the challenges that can come with starting and running a business, including accessing trusted advice, building skills and balancing business with other responsibilities.
With a network of more than 40 mentors, participants can receive tailored guidance based on their goal, challenges and stage of business.
Adelaide Business Hub Chair Dr Kristine Peters said the mentoring program provided women with customised support throughout their business journey.
"Our network of more than 40 mentors provides tailored guidance aligned with each participant's goals, challenges, and stage of business," she said.
"We're helping women right across South Australia, including regional businesses - our mentors understand what it means to live and work in rural communities, and how that is different from operating in a city environment."
The program's extension was announced during Small Business Week, (external site) held annually to help South Australia's more than 168,000 businesses build capability, strengthen resilience and explore new opportunities.
