The NSW Government has announced an additional $127 million to implement recommendations from the Royal Commission.
The new funding will be use to:
- strengthen measures to prevent child sexual abuse
- ensure greater access to treatment and support services for children and adults impacted by child sexual abuse
- toughen the criminal justice response to child offence matters.
This $127 million is in addition to the $570 million the NSW Government has already invested in reforms from the Royal Commission’s findings.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the NSW Government had listened to and learned from the Royal Commission and is acting on its recommendations.
"We are committed to ensuring that children now and in the future can live free from harm and, most importantly, are adequately protected and supported by the institutions entrusted to care for them," Ms Berejiklian said.
"Our top priority is to support the survivors of institutional childhood sexual abuse and to do all in our power to learn the lessons, to fix the failures, and to bring about lasting change."
