The Palaszczuk Government has supported the creation over more than 1,000 Queensland jobs every week over the past year, according to data released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
The ABS data show that the number of Queenslanders with a job rose by 52,600 in the 12 months to October 2019.
Deputy Premier and Treasurer Jackie Trad said that more than 200,000 Queensland jobs have been created under the Palaszczuk Government since January 2015.
"Today's data also show that more Queenslanders have been encouraged to join the labour force than at any time over the past five years," Ms Trad said.
"What's more, regions outside of Greater Brisbane have accounted for 60 per cent of all jobs created over the past year."
"These figures confirm that the Palaszczuk Government is backing regional Queensland and that our economic plan is working."
The labour force data follow a series of strong results for the Queensland economy this week.
Wages in Queensland's private sector grew by 1.1 per cent in the September quarter, faster than in New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia, according to ABS data released on Wednesday.
Queensland's economy grew by 2.2 per cent in the year to June, almost twice as fast as the rest of Australia, according to the independent Queensland Government Statistical Office.
"While the national economy stalls under the Morrison LNP Government, Queensland under Labor continues to grow," Ms Trad.
"Labor has created more than seven times more Queensland jobs than the LNP did. In other words, it would have taken the LNP more than two decades to create as many jobs as Labor has created in under five years.
"Industries which suffered job losses under the LNP – including agriculture, transport, manufacturing, construction, wholesale trade, and finance and insurance – have all grown under Labor," the Deputy Premier said.
"Accompanying the increase in private sector jobs under Labor, the Palaszczuk Government has also worked hard to restore frontline health and education services cut under the Newman LNP Government."
"The Palaszczuk Government's economic plan is working. Our Government looks forward to creating even more jobs for Queenslanders over the next 12 months and beyond."
