Gold Coast residents have logged more than 10,000 responses on the 72 options presented for the seven Spit precincts, with the Top of The Spit so far drawing the most feedback.
Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning Cameron Dick said participants were also investing time in detailed comments on The Spit master plan options report, spending on average 20 minutes completing the survey.
"We know The Spit is a much-loved area of the Gold Coast, so it’s great to see people are really engaging with all the options the master plan proposed," Mr Dick said.
"Precincts that have received the highest proportion of responses are Top of The Spit (20 per cent), Village Centre (18 per cent) and Federation Walk (13 per cent).
"A green Moondarewa Spit, making Doug Jennings Park an iconic city park, creating natural edges on Marine Stadium and upgraded parking have received the highest proportion of ‘most important’ rankings for options to include in the master plan.
"People also want to see Wave Break Island managed for day visits, and they want an iconic dive experience to be created.
At an industry briefing on the master plan options this week, Australian Institute of Architects Queensland Chapter President Paul Trotter said his institute was pleased to be part of the process of engagement on The Spit master plan.
"There is an enormous opportunity for The Spit to provide a legacy for the people of the Gold Coast as an open space asset, and improved connections to and through The Spit will be of critical importance," Mr Trotter said.
Queensland Chapter President the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects David Uhlmann acknowledged the significance of The Spit for the Gold Coast.
"Green infrastructure is critical to The Spit and getting that right will go a long way to producing a successful master plan," Mr Uhlmann said.
"The way in which the options promote green infrastructure, particularly at the top of The Spit, is very welcomed."
Mr Dick said people still had an opportunity to share their views on the master plan options via the online survey and at the final pop-up sessions.
"This is a plan for the community, by the community, so I urge everyone to have their say on the options for the master plan," he said

A third master planning workshop will also be held in December, where key stakeholders and community representatives will help refine the master planning options to produce a draft master plan.
The master plan is being prepared in collaboration with the City of Gold Coast and the Gold Coast Waterways Authority.
