More than 20 homes at Broughton Vale near Berry have been cut off by floodwater as the South Coast continues to cop a battering due to the current severe weather.
Some areas have recorded up to 200mm in the last 24 hours, with the rain set to continue over the next few days.
The NSW SES has attended 13 flood rescues, including two people and their dog who were in their car when it was swept down a creek, and received more than 710 calls for help for leaking and damaged roofs, trees down and requests for sandbags.
Crews on the South Coast and Shoalhaven remain on high alert with the Bureau of Meteorology issuing a flood warning for both the Moruya and Shoalhaven rivers.
The NSW SES is asking people to:
- Monitor the weather situation closely and to keep up to date with information and advice
- Limit any unnecessary travel. If you must travel, avoid low-lying flash flood hotspots.
- If you need to evacuate, stay with family or friends if possible.
- Know the height at which your home, business or property could be affected by floodwater.
- Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for updates.
- Never, drive, ride or walk through floodwater - floodwaters are deceptive and dangerous.
- Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
- If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest possible place and call Triple Zero (000).
- Move cars to high ground, undercover and away from trees.
- Stay clear of fallen trees and powerlines.
