More than five times limit in Laverton North

Good Samaritans have assisted in the capture of an alleged drunk driver in Laverton North last night.

Several motorists called triple zero (000) after seeing a vehicle allegedly weaving dangerously while travelling along the Princes Freeway shortly before 8pm.

The drivers tailed the man from Tullamarine, flashing their lights to try and signal the vehicle to pull over.

Their efforts paid off and the driver parked his car on the side of the freeway, about 200m west of Kororoit Creek Road, where a member of the public took the man's keys from the ignition.

Williamstown police arrived and the 48-year-old male driver underwent a breath-test where he returned an alleged reading of .254.

The Bell Park man was found to be a disqualified driver and is expected to be with drink driving and other traffic offences.

His Toyota Corolla was also impounded.

This impound is part of Operation Scoreboard which will run state-wide from 12.01am Wednesday, 21 September to 11.59pm Sunday, 25 September.
