More Than Four Times Limit In Mill Park

A driver has provided a breath test reading allegedly more than four times the legal limit in Mill Park.

Epping Police on patrol spotted a ute allegedly swerving all over the road and mounting a kerb, all without headlights on, along Fred Hollows Way early hours this morning.

Officers intercepted the ute and the driver provided an alleged breath test reading of 0.232.

The 31-year-old Mill Park man allegedly went on to tell police that his reason for getting behind the wheel was "stupidity" and he had spent too many hours at the local watering hole after work.

His licence was immediately suspended for 12 months and he is set to be charged on summons for drinking driving related offences.

The detection forms part of Operation Amity, a statewide road policing operation conducted over the Australia Day long weekend.

Police will be highly visible and enforcing in an effort to reduce road trauma, targeting impaired driving, speed, fatigue and distraction offences.

The operation commenced on Friday 23 January and runs until 11:59pm on Monday 26 January.
