Students at Federation University’s Ballarat campus will soon have access to a range of new training and courses to boost their skills and get a job, thanks to a funding boost from the Andrews Labor Government.
Minister for Training and Skills Gayle Tierney today visited Federation University’s Ballarat campus to announce $4.6 million in funding for student support services and to train the next generation of workers across health care, social assistance, hospitality and building design.
The Grampians Regional Health Work Readiness Program will receive a $2.15 million boost for a new program to address workforce shortages in the local health care and social assistance industry.
Led by Federation University in partnership with Ballarat Health Service and Wimmera Health Care, the project aims to retain young people in regional Victoria by providing students with meaningful training options and employment pathways as well as connecting employers with the emerging workforce.
Federation University will also receive $549,000 in funding to expand delivery of Diploma of Hospitality Management, Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural) and Certificate III in Individual Support.
The Labor Government is investing in support services for students at Federation University, today announcing $2.11 million in Community Service Funding for campuses across the state.
Community Service Funding supports Victorian TAFEs to give students literacy and numeracy support, extra help with study, additional learning space and specific support for Koorie Learners and Staff, people with a disability and culturally and linguistically diverse people.
To make it easier to access training, the Government is investing $172 million to make 30 priority TAFE courses and 20 pre-apprenticeship courses that lead to jobs that are most in demand from Victorian employers tuition free.
The Victorian Budget 2018/19 is investing an additional $644 million to strengthen TAFE, address skills shortages and ensure all Victorians can access the training they need to get a good job.
