Orange City Council will host a number of water forums on the 15th and 16th of January to engage with the local community and the business sector to ensure we work together to potentially avoid reaching level 6 water restrictions.
With water storages continuing to fall, Orange city Council is working with the business sector to ensure water usage is as minimal as possible.
The focus will be the top 50 water users aiming to reduce their consumption. Every day of water we save now pushes the introduction of level 6 further away. Currently with no inflows level 6 could be introduced on 1 May with a significant impact on the operations of water intensive industries and now outside watering for residents.
Orange City Council Mayor Cr Reg Kidd said it is time to look more closely at what can be done in terms of conservation.
"Orange residents have done exceptionally well in terms of cutting back on their water usage, constantly meeting daily targets, but minimal rain means minimal inflows. We need to continue to use the water we have as best we can and that's why we are working closely with the high water users to work out ways to use alternative water sources."
The forums will take place in the Civic Theatre Foyer:
-Business Water Forum Wednesday 15 January – 12:30pm to 1.30pm
-Community Water Forum Wednesday 15 January - 5:30pm to 7:00pm
-Community Water Forum Thursday 16 January - 12:30pm to 1:30pm
-Business Water Forum Thursday 16 January - 5:30pm to 7:00pm
