Moreton District Honors Officers, Police Dogs

In a heartfelt ceremony yesterday, the Queensland Police Service (QPS) celebrated the outstanding dedication of 49 officers and two police dogs, recognising their commitment to keeping the Moreton community safe.

Among the recipients were 18 officers who received National Level Awards, including nine who were presented with the National Police Service Medal, which honours ethical and diligent service.

State Level medals were presented to 24 officers in recognition of years of dedicated service. This included Senior Constable Andrew Donohue and Senior Sergeant Donald Schouten, each awarded the 40-year Clasp.

Notably, Senior Sergeants Schouten and John Fowles were awarded the Exemplary Conduct Medal with Leadership Clasp.

Recently retired Sergeant, Andrew McAlister, who served much of his career in North Brisbane and Moreton Districts, and specialised in intelligence, received the 35-year Clasp.

The ceremony also recognised eight QPS members, including two police dogs, who were presented with special awards acknowledging their exceptional contributions.

Recently retired Police Dog Gator and retired Police Dog Lugar have been awarded the prestigious Queensland Police Canine Service Medallion for their noteworthy operational commitment, loyalty and service to their handlers and the community.

Special commendations include Sergeant Michelle Goodman, who received the National Emergency Medal, Constable Peter Nixon who received an Assistant Commissioner's Certificate, and Redcliffe Zonta Club members, Ms Lee Dawson and Ms Jenny Osborne, who received the Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Community Service Award.

The awards and medals highlight the exemplary efforts of members from various QPS commands and divisions, including the Crime and Intelligence Command, and Operations Support Command.

Moreton Assistant District Officer, Acting Superintendent Craig White, congratulated all recipients and praised their long-standing commitment to the QPS and communities they serve.

"These awards represent the steadfast commitment of our officers to protect and serve the community as well as form a reminder of the values they uphold as Queensland Police officers," Acting Superintendent Craig White said.

"The professionalism and dedication demonstrated by these members and our canine companions are a true inspiration to all within the QPS.

"Their recognition reflects our collective appreciation for the critical role they play in keeping Queensland safe."
