Morisset Housing Project Passes Halfway Mark

NSW Gov

More than 40 people are a step closer to a safe and secure place to call home in Lake Macquarie, with construction of 15 new social homes now past the halfway mark in Morisset.

Due for completion in mid-2027, the project is transforming previously vacant lots into nine two-bedroom and six three-bedroom high-quality townhouses in a well-connected location close to shops, schools, parks and Morisset train station.

The Minns Labor Government is building new social homes at scale with, more than 5,175 new social and affordable homes delivered since April 2023 and hundreds more in the pipeline.

There is a total of 27 new homes in the Lake Macquarie LGA on track for completion by mid-2027.

The $17 million dollar Morisset project is the latest example of governments and the community housing sector working together to create much needed housing in NSW.

Evolve Housing will also deliver an additional four Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) homes on the site, providing self-contained units, with communal and support spaces designed to meet the needs of people living with disability.

The project is part of the Minns Labor Government's $6.6 billion Building Homes for NSW which is delivering 8,400 new public housing homes, 21,000 affordable and market homes, and upgrades to 30,000 existing social housing properties across NSW.

Minster for the Hunter Yasmin Catley said:

"We are committed to delivering more homes in Lake Macquarie and ensuring every community up and down the lake has access to safe and secure housing for the future.
