Mornington detectives search for bogus supermarket employee

Mornington Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following three burglaries committed on bayside supermarkets over the past week., Victoria Police say

The first incident occurred at a large supermarket on Beach Street in Frankston on the evening of Wednesday 7 September when a man entered store and stole a number of items from a staff room.

The items stolen included handbags, wallets and a uniform shirt with the company’s logo attached.

The following morning the man, wearing the staff uniform, went to the company’s Hastings store on Victoria Street and gained entry into the staff room.

Once inside the staff room the man went through the employee’s lockers and stole wallets, mobile phones and a set of car keys.

After leaving the store the man used the car keys to steal the employee’s car which was parked in a near-by car park.

Later that afternoon the man went to the Mornington store on Bentons Road and again stole items from the staff room.

The burglar is perceived to be of Caucasian appearance, aged in his late teens to early 20s, with wavy brown hair.
