The Shire is celebrating 10 years of Mornington Peninsula Produce (MPP), a trusted provenance brand for food and products genuinely grown, bred or raised on the Mornington Peninsula, and a thriving membership network connecting local farmers, growers, makers and producers.
For a decade, the brand has brought together the region's primary producers and makers through a collaborative membership network that strengthens connections, fosters knowledge sharing and helps showcase the Mornington Peninsula's diverse agricultural offering.
For consumers, the Mornington Peninsula Produce mark provides a trusted guarantee of provenance, helping them identify food and products that are genuinely grown, bred or raised on the Mornington Peninsula and sourced directly from certified local producers.
As we celebrate World Food Day on Friday 16 October, Mornington Peninsula Produce's 10-year milestone showcases the vital role local producers play in feeding our community and strengthening the region's food future.
Mayor Stephen Batty said the milestone highlights the importance of backing local producers and making provenance clear and accessible.
"From farm gates to markets and restaurants, the Mornington Peninsula Produce brand helps residents and visitors recognise and enjoy food that is genuinely from our region," Cr Batty said.
"As we celebrate 10 years, we're encouraging more people to look out for the mark, support our MPP businesses and discover the stories behind our local producers."
With 70% of the Mornington Peninsula protected as Green Wedge, the region's $1.3 billion agriculture sector remains a defining part of its economy, environment and identity, generating Victoria's second-highest food production revenue per hectare.
The strength of the Mornington Peninsula Produce brand is reflected in the growing recognition of local producers, whose commitment to quality, sustainability and innovation continues to build the region's reputation as one of Australia's leading food and wine destinations.
Ahead of the festive season, residents and visitors are encouraged to support local growers and producers by choosing products carrying the Mornington Peninsula Produce mark and exploring the region's farm gates, cafes, restaurants and markets.
