Leeton Shire Council is inviting local motorcycle riders to participate in a specialised Motorcycle Crash Management Training course designed to equip riders with the knowledge and skills needed to respond safely and effectively in the event of a motorcycle crash.
Facilitated by First Aid for Motorcyclists, the course focuses on the unique challenges associated with motorcycle crashes and provides practical, rider-specific first aid knowledge. Participants will learn essential skills including scene management and safe crash response, airway management for riders and pillions, treatment of bleeding, burns and fractures, and strategies for group ride safety planning.
The training will be held on Saturday 24 October 2026, from 9:00am to 4:00pm at the Function Space, Leeton Showground Grandstand. Places are limited to just 20 participants, with a heavily subsidised registration fee of $30 per person. Inclusions: Morning Tea and lunch provided.
Leeton Shire Council's Road Safety Officer, Ashlee Hayllar, said the initiative aims to improve rider safety and confidence while helping create a safer riding community.
"Motorcyclists are often among the first on the scene when another rider is involved in a crash. This training provides practical, potentially lifesaving skills that can make a significant difference before emergency services arrive."
The course supports Council's ongoing commitment to road safety education and awareness across the community and is particularly relevant for recreational riders, motorcycle club members and agricultural workers who ride regularly.
Council encourages interested riders to book in early to avoid missing out, as participant numbers are strictly limited.
