Motorcyclist Arrested for Evading Police at 200km/h+

A man has been arrested following an extensive Air Wing follow throughout Melbourne's northern suburbs.

The Air Wing observed a motorcycle travelling in excess of 200km/h on the Melton Highway at Melton about 3.30pm on Thursday, 19 January.

The vehicle was followed as it sped dangerously through suburbs including Truganina, Hoppers Crossing and Werribee.

The motorcycle was seen to travel on the wrong side of the road as it consistently overtook vehicles at excessive speed.

The rider then took the motorcycle off road in an effort to evade police before he was ultimately arrested in Presidents Park at Wyndham Vale about 4.20pm.

A 21-year-old Melton man, currently on an expired Learner's permit, has been charged with reckless conduct endanger serious Injury, dangerous driving whilst being pursued, speed dangerous, manner dangerous, fail to stop on police direction, three counts of exceed speed limit, overtake when unsafe and unlicensed driving.

He was remanded overnight to appear at Sunshine Magistrates Court on today.
