Following two years of works, Mount Waverley's new double-storey sports pavilion was officially opened on Friday 29 August.

The new home of the Waverley Blues Football Netball Club and Mount Waverley Cricket Club features changerooms for players and umpires, a first aid room, kitchen, canteen, social rooms and a balcony with a view of the sportsground that will be the envy of visiting clubs and spectators for years to come.

Alongside the construction of the new pavilion, a Masterplan for Mount Waverley Reserve has also delivered upgrades to the sportsground and new lighting, a play space with nature play and a trampoline, cricket practice facilities and a public toilet. Work on a new car park for visitors is underway and will be finished soon.

This was a $10m+ investment in sport and recreation in Mount Waverley, made possible by $7m from the Australian Government, $2.2m from Council, $2m from the Victorian Government and $100,000 each from the tenant clubs, AFL and Cricket Victoria.

Monash Mayor Cr Paul Klisaris was joined at the opening event by Dr Carina Garland, Federal MP for Chisholm, Matt Fregon, State MP for Ashwood, and representatives from Waverley Blues Football Netball Club, Mount Waverley Cricket Club, Cricket Victoria and the Australian Football League.

Everyone who spoke at the opening event spoke glowingly about the partnership between the three levels of government and local sporting clubs in planning, funding and delivering the project, as well as the incredible outcomes the new facilities will make possible for both the local clubs and the community.

Monash Council thanks our funding partners and local sporting clubs for working with us to deliver the community's Masterplan for Mount Waverley Reserve.
