COVID-19 triggered an economic downturn with an uneven impact across the Arab region. Meanwhile, it offered an opportunity for a green recovery that could help lift Arab economies out of recession while decarbonizing, creating decent jobs, and promoting equity.
On 16 March, ESCWA held within the AFSD a session tackling multi-stakeholder efforts for green recovery, which is considered one of the three key elements for a solid post-pandemic recovery.
Panelists explored the opportunities in the region, examined the extent to which adopted recovery measures take into account the environmental dimension, and considered donor directions on green recovery funding.
