Multiple firearms seized during search at Kootingal

Multiple firearms and ammunition have been seized following a search on a property in the state's west yesterday.

About 2pm Wednesday 27 January 2021, officers attached to Oxley Police District conducted a search of a property at Acacia Road, Kootingal, in relation to a Firearms Prohibition Order and Weapons Prohibition Order (WPO) for a 31-year-old man residing at the address.

Following the search, police seized three firearms unsecured in a motor vehicle, a further three firearms unsecured in a shipping container, and a large quantity of ammunition.

Police will allege two of the firearms were loaded and three were found to have their bolts still in position.

All firearms were located outside of their registered safe storage address.

A 62-year-old man, also residing at the address, was served with a firearms licence suspension notice.

Charges are expected to be laid.
