Police and emergency services continue to urge motorists to be aware of their surroundings and drive to conditions during this wet weather following multiple calls to help drivers trapped in floodwaters across the Wide Bay this morning, 9 March.
Crews were called to Booubyjan after reports a man had become trapped in floodwaters on the Burnett Highway around 6.50am.
Upon arrival, crews located a man on the roof of a vehicle near Murgon Gayndah Road.
The rescue helicopter and PolAir was called to assist but both were grounded due to worsening weather conditions.
Swift water crews in a motorised vessel managed to retrieve the man around 10.45am. He was uninjured.
In a separate incident, Bundaberg police were deployed to The Causeway, Bargara following reports two people were stranded in floodwaters.
Around 7.40am, police located the vehicle and officers were able to safely remove both occupants. No injuries were reported.
The driver of the vehicle, a 54-year-old Bundaberg man was also issued a $667 fine for driving without due care and attention.
Just before 10.20am, police and emergency services were called to Brian Pastures Road in Gayndah, North Burnett, to reports two women inside a vehicle had become trapped in floodwaters.
Crews arrived to find both women had safely extradited themselves from the vehicle.
Police are continuing to urge motorists to check road conditions before travelling and never drive through floodwaters.
Locals should drive to the conditions, slow down, and take extra precautions when travelling in flood impacted areas.
The message is simple – if it is flooded- forget it.
