Murder charge laid after death of woman at Zetland

A woman has been charged with murder after the death of another woman in a domestic-related incident at Zetland.

Emergency services were called to Rose Valley Way about 8.45pm on Monday (17 June 2019), following the discovery of a woman suffering injuries at the rear of a unit complex.

Officers from Redfern Police Area Command attended and attempted to revive the 23-year-old woman; however, she died at the scene.

Strike Force Deepfield was established by local detectives, assisted by the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.

Following assistance from the public, police located a white Mercedes at Sea Cliff Bridge, north of Wollongong, about 3.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 18 June 2019).

A 29-year-old woman was arrested near the vehicle and taken to Wollongong Police Station. The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.

The woman has been charged with the outstanding warrant for murder and take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.

She has been refused bail and will appear in Wollongong Local Court today (Wednesday 19 June 2019).
