Murray Bridge pursuit ends with driver's arrest, South Australia

Police have arrested a man after a pursuit which started in Murray Bridge overnight.

Just before 11pm on Sunday 3 February patrol spotted a vehicle of interest, a black Mitsubishi 4WD on Clara Street and tried to stop it.

The driver refused and was pursued through a number of roads including the Old Princess Highway. PolAir was activated and took over the pursuit from the air as the driver commenced travelling along unsealed roads heading towards Younghusband.

The 4WD was followed along Piggy Flat Road until it stopped on Hunter Road where the driver ran off into scrubland.

PolAir directed patrols to the driver's location and he was apprehended a short distance away.

The 44-year-old from the Tailem Bend area has been charged with engage in police pursuit, drive disqualified, hinder police and breach of bail. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court later today.
