Music tutor charged in connection with alleged historical child sexual abuse in Beecroft

A music tutor will face court today charged over the alleged sexual abuse of former students in Sydney's north-west.

Detectives from Ryde Police Area Command formed Strike Force Badarene in late 2018 to investigate allegations of child sexual abuse by a music tutor at Beecroft.

Following investigations, strike force detectives arrested a 54-year-old man at a Beecroft home yesterday (Tuesday 5 March 2019).

Investigators also executed a search warrant at the home and seized several items.

The man was taken to Ryde Police Station and charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault – victim under authority of offender, and two counts of aggravated indecent assault – victim under authority of offender.

Police will allege in court two girls, then aged 15, were indecently and sexually assaulted during lessons between April and November 2016.

The man has been refused bail to appear in Burwood Local Court today (Wednesday 6 March 2019).

Investigations into these matters continue.
