STURGEON FALLS, Ontario, April 17, 2019

The Government of Canada is committed to promoting the presentation of the arts across the country, in both rural and urban areas.

Marc Serré, Member of Parliament (Nickel Belt), today announced $30,000 in funding for the Conseil des arts de Nipissing Ouest (CANO). He made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism.

This funding, provided through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund, will allow CANO to present various shows and activities as part of its programming over the next three years.

During his visit, Mr. Serré took the opportunity to highlight the $46,000 in funding provided to CANO through the Community Cultural Action Fund, part of the Official Languages Support Programs. This support enabled Les Pyromaniaques, a community theatre group, to stage their ambitious theatre project Et si on allait plus loin.

"Arts and culture bring people together, celebrate diversity and contribute to our quality of life. This is why our government is pleased to support the Conseil des arts de Nipissing Ouest, an organization that offers a range of arts programming that enriches the lives of the people in Sturgeon Falls and the surrounding area."

-The Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism

"I am proud of the support that our government is providing to Francophone cultural organizations in northern Ontario. Organizations like the Conseil des arts de Nipissing Ouest help the community thrive and contribute to the sustainability of the arts and Francophone culture in the region."

-Marc Serré, Member of Parliament (Nickel Belt)

"We can unequivocally state that the management and board members of the Conseil des arts de Nipissing Ouest greatly appreciate this financial assistance. In conjunction with our new three-year funding partnership with the Municipality of West Nipissing, this funding from Canadian Heritage will allow us to continue to effectively lay a viable foundation of funding for our organization for the next three years. Over the past year, we have begun crafting a development vision for our organization, and this funding will directly assist us in turning that vision into a reality."

-Dany H. Poulin, Executive Director of Programming, CANO
