Congratulations to one of Tasmania's star thoroughbreds, Mystic Journey on winning the Australian Guineas in Melbourne today.
This marks an historic day for Tasmania as the three-year-old filly is the first Tasmanian-trained horse to win a group 1 race on the mainland.
It's great to see Tasmanian horses making their mark on the national stage, and today's victory only strengthens the case for Mystic Journey to gain a wildcard into the $5 million All-Star Mile race on 16 March.
The Hodgman Liberal Government is a strong supporter of Tasmania's thoroughbred racing and breeding industry providing funding of $300,000 to the sector in 2018/19.
