Nankervis Appointed Australia's Climate Ambassador

The Australian Government has named Mr Will Nankervis as Australia's new Ambassador for Climate Change.

As ambassador, Mr Nankervis will represent Australia's climate change interests overseas. He will have a key focus on working with the Pacific and Southeast Asia. He will also support Australia's bid to host COP31 in partnership with Pacific countries.

This role shows Australia's commitment to working with other countries on climate action.

Mr Nankervis is a senior career officer in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He is also the First Assistant Secretary of the Climate Diplomacy and Development Finance Division. He has worked overseas as Ambassador of Australia to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Jakarta. He has also held roles in New York and Colombo.

We also thank former Ambassador for Climate Change, Ms Kristin Tilley, for her contribution and leadership. She has been in the role since 2022.
