Narooma's New Rugby Field Is Match Ready

Lights, turf, action!

Narooma's Bill Smyth Oval Second Field officially opened on the weekend - but not before the U14 Narooma Devils got in a weeknight test run.

On Saturday, Eurobodalla Mayor Mathew Hatcher and state member for Bega Dr. Michael Holland cut the ribbon to the cheers of teams, families and supporters.

And after a few well-intentioned footy passes from the pollies, the juniors took to the field to kick things off at this new community asset.

Narooma Junior Rugby League Football Club expressed their excitement at the opening, with their 15 Junior teams, Seniors and Marlins able to use the full-sized rugby field for their training and matches.

The opening of the second field brings to a close the three-year Bill Smyth Oval upgrade, which has included a multi-sport synthetic court, new carpark, fencing and footpaths.

Project Manager Chris Teague looks forward to seeing the versatile venue used for a range of sports, as well as school and community events.

The Bill Smyth Oval upgrade was made possible thanks to a $664,767 contribution from NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities Fund.
