National Forum To Focus On Local Priorities

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The Albanese Government will strengthen its close partnership with local government at the Australian Council of Local Government (ACLG) in June this year.

Representatives from councils nationwide will have the opportunity to meet Federal ministers and discuss shared priorities.

The event will take place on the afternoon of Monday 22 June at the Great Hall of Australian Parliament House.

It features a packed agenda of panels and presentations crucial to local government, including housing, emergency management, and productivity.

The event will also feature the 40th National Awards for Local Government, celebrating innovation from across the sector.

The ACLG underscores the Albanese Government's ongoing commitment to strengthen the services local government deliver in every community and to genuine engagement with the advocates and champions for each of Australia's local government areas.

To maximise participation, the 2026 ACLG will align with the annual Australian Local Government Association's (ALGA) National General Assembly, which will take place from 23 -25 June 2026 in Canberra.

Registrations will open on 23 March 2026 and more information can be found here: www.infrastructure.gov.au/territories-regions-cities/local-government/australian-council-of-local-government
