In support of Planet Ark's National Recycling Week, City of Mount Gambier will host a program of free activities from Thursday 5 to Sunday 15 November 2020 around this year's theme 'Recovery: A Future Beyond the Bin'.
"The campaign aims to tap into the sentiment amongst many in industry, government and the public who feel now is the time to make changes to the way we live and work," City of Mount Gambier Environmental Sustainability Officer Aaron Izzard said.
In line with the national theme, Council is inviting the community to learn the value of resources by giving them a second life and reducing single resource use through reusing and recycling.

The activities will commence in advance of Recycling Week kicking off with a screening of 'The True Cost' at The Riddoch Arts & Cultural Centre on Thursday 5 November at 7:00pm.
"The film explores the fact that the price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically," Mr Izzard said.
On Wednesday 11 November 2020 Mr Izzard will present an online webinar at 7:30pm about how and where to recycle various items.
"Ever wondered if you can recycle takeaway coffee cups or pizza boxes? Did you know plastics are now getting recycled right here in Mount Gambier? Get all the answers and more at this online workshop from the comfort of your own home."
To conclude the week, Mount Gambier Library will host a free DIY laundry detergent workshop on Saturday 14 November at 10:00am where participants will be shown how to make their own laundry detergent and can also find out information and tips about household recycling.
"We're looking forward to a great activity to help residents reduce their impact on the environment through the simple action of making their own environmentally friendly detergent," Library Manager Georgina Davison said.
During Recycling Week, residents are reminded that the City of Mount Gambier bulky waste trial is continuing with residential properties invited to take advantage of one collection of up to two cubic metres via a 'call and collect' system.
"The overall goal of the bulky waste service is to reduce waste to landfill and encourage responsible disposal of household items so if you haven't yet utilised this service please contact Council to book," Mr Izzard said.
