National Ride2School Day: Bayside

National Ride2School Day returns on Friday 20 March 2026, where Bayside families are encouraged to take part by swapping the car for a bike, scooter or a walk, where safe to do so.

Riding or walking to school is one of the simplest and easiest ways to incorporate physical activity into a child's day. It supports their health, wellbeing and independence from an early age, while promoting a sustainable transport option.

Bayside Council, in partnership with Southern Regional Organisation of Councils (SSROC), will partner with local schools to deliver a free Bike Care and Maintenance Workshop as part of the Retread Program. Knowing how to look after a bike, such as checking tyres or fixing a chain, gives children and young people the confidence to ride more often and more safely.

Through this program, students gain hands-on bike maintenance skills that set them up for a lifetime of safe, active travel.
