National Terrorism Threat level - POSSIBLE

The national terrorism threat level for Australia has been reset to POSSIBLE.

The lowering of the threat level does not mean the threat has extinguished. The national terrorism threat level will continue to be reviewed and updated with the changing security environment.

While people should continue to be vigilant, you should also have more confidence to go about your life. For most people the change in threat level will have no practical impact.

Australia's law enforcement and security agencies protect Australians through multi-layered, effective and well-coordinated security arrangements. These will continue.

Members of the public can continue to provide valuable information to assist security and law enforcement agencies identify potential threats and prevent them from developing.

If it doesn't add up, speak up, by calling the National Security Hotline on 1800 123 400.

Information about the National Terrorism Threat Advisory System and the current level can be found at www.nationalsecurity.gov.au
