National Volunteer Week is approaching, and this year it carries special significance for our Shire. Following the January 2026 fires, our community continues to recover and rebuild, supported by the dedication of volunteers across every corner of our region.
While this year's celebrations will look different due to the fires, our commitment to recognising volunteers remains unchanged. Volunteers play a vital role in keeping our community connected, whether through local groups, sporting clubs, neighbourhood houses, events, or ongoing recovery efforts.
This year's theme, Your Year to Volunteer, recognises those already making a difference and encourages others to get involved in ways that suit them. As recovery continues, volunteers are needed now more than ever, not only in emergency roles, but in the everyday activities that strengthen community life.
In the coming weeks, we will share opportunities to recognise volunteers and highlight the many ways people contribute across our Shire. Dedicated recognition for fire related volunteering will also be shared in June, as part of a broader focus on recovery and resilience.
