Mary Baginsky contributed to new reports on social worker workload

Person looking stressed surrounded by work to do

Reader in Social Care at King's, Dr Mary Baginsky, provided support to the National Workload Action Group which has this week published its reports exploring how to reduce social workers' workload, with the government also publishing its response.

These reports were produced by Research in Practice. They were supported by Essex County Council and King's, who each contributed their workforce research and practice knowledge and expertise, making this work richer and relevant to practice.

The Department for Education established the National Workload Action Group in January 2023 as part of its response to the national Independent review of children's social care (May 2022), with the aim of:

  • finding the main causes of unnecessary social work workload
  • developing practical, evidence-based solutions.
