NBN Upgrades in Swan Hill, Murray Cross Border Region

Murray River Council

Eligible homes and businesses across the Swan Hill and Murray Cross Border regions can now access improved broadband coverage following the completion of new nbn Fixed Wireless towers.

Residents in Tooleybuc, Koraleigh, Murray Downs and surrounds, as well as Nyah, Nyah West, Vinifera, Beverford and Piangil regions will benefit from the three new towers constructed in Piangil, Nyah and Swan Hill North.

The towers will provide nbn high speed broadband to more than 2,400 premises across the region, offering residents and businesses access to download speeds of 100 Megabits per second through their chosen internet provider.

The mutli-million-dollar upgrade was secured via a grant application from Murray River Council which delivered funding partnerships between nbn, the Cross Border Commissioner's Fund, and Connecting Victoria via the Victorian Government.

Murray River Council Mayor, Cr John Harvie said this is an exciting advancement for the north-western communities of the Council.

"Digital Connectivity is a critical requirement in modern society, regardless of where we live."

"Having the nbn network expanded in these areas will enable thousands of our border community residents and businesses to access high speed broadband from a broad choice of competing Retail Service Providers," Cr Harvie said

To help customers understand and take advantage of the completed upgrades, the nbn Local team will be visiting the area over the coming week.

Head of nbn Local NSW, Tom O'Dea will join local mayors at events on both sides of the border to provide important information on the new services.

Mr O'Dea is encouraging local residents to attend the to see if they can benefit from the new services.

"These improvements are already making a difference for families, students, and small businesses who need reliable internet for day-to-day operations and future growth, so I would encourage people to come and see us to find out more," Mr O'Dea said.

Local residents and businesses can head along to the information sessions to have their questions answered and work out how to get connected. The team can also provide advice on making the most of their home internet and setup.
