Near Completion: 40 New Social Homes in Sunshine Coast

• Forty new social homes at Little Mountain to be completed this month as part of Miles Government's Homes for Queenslanders plan
• Government is ramping up delivery of public and community housing over coming years to deliver 53,500 by 2046

The finishing touches are being made on 40 new Homes for Queenslanders, as the Miles Government boosts its social housing Big Build.

The 40 new units, which include 32, one-bedroom units and eight, two-bedroom units were built in partnership with Churches of Christ Housing Services.

They've have been built with accessibility in mind for people with a disability and seniors with mobility needs.

The Miles Government provided $10.2 million for the construction of the new units, which supported around 62 full-time equivalent construction jobs.

It comes after the Miles Government launched its Homes for Queenslanders plan earlier this year, which includes a target of 53,500 more social homes.

The social housing target in Homes for Queenslanders was informed by modelling done by the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute.

The modelling incorporates historical and predictive analysis, including population growth and social and economic factors, to inform social housing need, and is the first of its kind in Australia.
