Never off-duty

A police officer is never fully off-duty, a fact that detectives from Warrnambool Crime Investigation Unit can attest to after making an arrest at a local hardware business on Saturday afternoon.

The off-duty detectives had just finished for the day and were driving along Raglan Parade when they noticed a green Holden Commodore.

The vehicle was believed to have been involved in a number of dangerous driving incidents, petrol drive-offs and evades in the Warrnambool area over recent days.

The detectives followed the car and watched the driver as he pulled into the hardware store car park, parked the Commodore and went inside.

They followed and arrested a 27-year-old man in one of the aisles and held him until backup arrived.

Once the man was secured the Commodore was searched and police allege they located a double barrel shot gun, drugs and stolen goods in the vehicle.

A 26-year-old woman who was with the man was also arrested.

Both are currently assisting detectives with their enquires.
