Griffith City Council has enhanced CBD safety with the installation of a new 24/7 publicly accessible Automated External Defibrillator in Kooyoo Street. The unit is now in place on the exterior wall of the kiosk, offering a central and highly visible location supported by strong lighting and CCTV coverage.
The installation of this life saving device represents a partnership between Griffith Soroptimists, The Heart Foundation and Council to deliver a safer and more resilient community. Having an AED available around the clock in a busy part of the city strengthens our emergency response capability and supports quicker action when it is needed most.
The device is housed in a weather-resistant, alarm-equipped cabinet to ensure it remains protected while still immediately accessible. Council staff will conduct routine checks to maintain the unit's readiness.
To support community awareness, the Council website has an online map which highlights all Council-owned AED locations across the Local Government Area. Residents are encouraged to familiarise themselves with these sites to feel confident responding in an emergency.
Any businesses or individuals wishing to include the location of their AED on this map are invited to contact Council.
The Kooyoo Street installation reinforces Council's commitment to proactive community safety and enhanced public amenity.
